The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, according to experts and business people. This year’s analysis shows corruption is more pervasive in countries where big money can flow freely into electoral campaigns and where governments listen only to the voices of wealthy or well-connected individuals. | |
Keeping a record of a claim is feasible. A blockchain can store a durable, tamper-resistant reference to a claim and anchor it in time. That part works well. Verifying that people are aligned on whether the claim is true or false is not. Blockchains cannot determine truth, intent, or understanding. They can only record that participants asserted agreement or disagreement. Any alignment recorded is procedural, not epistemic. In other words, the system can prove that people said they agreed, but not that the agreement reflects reality, comprehension, or shared meaning. So as a system of record, blockchain is strong at preserving claims and weak at preserving consensus about truth. |
